Boomer's Adventure 2 is one of those Game Boy games that feels like it was made by someone who really loved the system. You start off in this little pixelated world where Boomer—this round, bouncy dude—has to roll, jump, and bomb his way through levels packed with secrets. The first few screens trick you into thinking it’s just cute and simple, but then the puzzles start getting sneaky.

What I love is how the game plays with momentum—you’ll be rolling down slopes, barely dodging spikes, and then suddenly you’re figuring out how to time a bomb explosion to knock out a wall. The boss fights are these weird, screen-filling creatures that feel straight out of an ‘80s cartoon, and the music? Pure chiptune charm.

It’s not the hardest platformer out there, but some of those later levels will make you pause and rethink your approach. If you’ve got a soft spot for Game Boy-era quirks, this one’s a solid time.
