Bomb Jack on Game Boy is one of those old-school arcade ports that somehow feels just right on a handheld. You play as this little dude in a red jumpsuit, bouncing around platforms trying to grab bombs before they explode. Sounds simple, but the timing gets tricky—some bombs flash faster than others, and those weird floating enemies love to cut you off mid-jump.

What I like is how the screen scrolls when you reach the edges, revealing new bomb layouts. The first few levels ease you in, but by stage 3, you’re doing these awkward mid-air pivots to dodge fireballs. Classic arcade chaos, just shrunk down for your pocket.

It’s the kind of game where one more try actually means twelve more tries.
