You control a king leading a small army across a side-view battlefield, screen by screen. Your goal is to march from the left side of the map all the way to the enemy's castle on the right, defeating the opposing Bokosuka army. Your main tools are a sword for close combat and a bow for attacking from a distance. You can recruit soldiers you find along the way, and they will follow your king and fight automatically, which adds a layer of tactics as you manage your little troop. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and it's quite difficult; losing your king means starting over, and the enemy forces are relentless. Playing it feels like a careful, constant push against a stubborn enemy line.
