About Blodia
Blodia came out for the Game Boy in 1990, developed by Kaneko. It was part of that early wave of portable games where developers were still figuring out how to build compelling worlds on that small, green screen. You control a robot, navigating through a maze-like fortress that scrolls screen by screen. Your goal is to find and destroy the enemy core hidden deep within the base.
You move your robot through interconnected rooms, each one a self-contained challenge. The core loop involves blasting enemy robots and turrets with your arm cannon while searching for keys to unlock doors. You can also collect power-ups that enhance your firepower or defense. The pacing is deliberate; you need to methodically clear areas and remember your route, as the maze can be disorienting. Enemy patterns are simple but persistent, and a single hit sends you back to the start of the stage, which adds a layer of tension to every encounter. It feels like a careful, tactical push into hostile territory where every decision matters.
