About Block Kuzushi
Block Kuzushi GB came out for the Game Boy in 1995, developed by Natsume. It was part of that wave of puzzle games that felt perfectly suited for the handheld, something you could pick up for a few minutes between other tasks. The screen was small, the graphics were simple, but it had a clear purpose.
You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, deflecting a ball to break all the blocks above. The main objective is to clear each stage completely before you run out of balls. Some of the blocks require multiple hits to break, while others might release items that change your paddle's size or give you a multiball. The game progresses screen by screen, with the layouts and block patterns becoming more complex. It starts off gentle but the difficulty ramps up steadily, demanding sharper reflexes and more precise angles. Playing it feels like a quiet, focused battle against the screen's geometry.
