Blaster Master Jr. is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that somehow makes top-down tank combat feel intense. You're rolling around in this armored vehicle, blasting mutants in underground tunnels, then suddenly hopping out to run and gun as the pilot. The controls take a second to click—switching between tank and on-foot sections feels clunky at first, but once you get the rhythm, it's oddly satisfying.
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well for a Game Boy title, especially the way explosions light up those tight corridors. Just don't expect the NES version's depth—this one's shorter and meaner with its enemy placements. That last boss still gives me flashbacks.
If you're into retro action with a side of jank, this one's worth dusting off.
