About Blaster Master Boy
Blaster Master Boy came out for the Game Boy in 1991, developed by Sunsoft. It was part of that wave of games trying to bring complex console style adventures to the handheld. You could tell they were pushing the little system, building a bigger world than you usually saw on the go.
You control a kid named Jason, who explores an alien world from two perspectives. On the overhead map, you drive a tank called the Metal Attacker, blasting enemies and searching for dungeon entrances. When you find one, you get out and the game switches to a side view. Jason is small and vulnerable on foot, armed only with a blaster pistol. You navigate these platforming sections, fighting monsters and hunting for keys to unlock doors. The main goal is to find and destroy the alien bosses hidden in these dungeons. It is a methodical game; you have to pay attention to your routes and manage your limited weapon energy. The difficulty is consistent, sometimes demanding precise jumps and careful enemy patterns. Moving between the tank's power and Jason's fragility gives the whole adventure a distinct rhythm.
