Ever wanted to fish without actually getting wet? Black Bass: Lure Fishing on the Game Boy is about as close as you could get back in the day. You pick your lure, cast into pixelated waters, and wait for that satisfying little tug on the line. The controls are simple—just reel at the right time—but those bass don’t go down easy. I lost more than a few before figuring out the rhythm.
It’s got that classic Game Boy charm, right down to the tinny victory jingle when you finally land a big one. Not gonna lie, the graphics are basic (it’s a fish and some wobbly lines, basically), but there’s something weirdly addictive about it. You’ll probably catch yourself muttering “just one more cast” at 2 AM.
Still holds up if you’re into old-school handheld vibes or just really miss fishing games that don’t overcomplicate things.
