Bionic Commando on Game Boy is one of those games that feels way ahead of its time. You’ve got this bionic arm that lets you swing around like Spider-Man—except you’re a soldier blasting through enemy territory instead of fighting crime. At first, the swinging takes some getting used to (I definitely faceplanted into a few walls early on), but once it clicks, zipping through levels feels amazing.

It’s not just about the arm, though. The levels are packed with little secrets—hidden rooms, alternate paths—and the enemies actually put up a decent fight. Some of those jumps are brutal, especially when you’re dodging gunfire mid-swing. But nailing a perfect grapple and landing right on top of some unsuspecting goon never gets old.

If you’re into retro games that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a blast. Just don’t be surprised if you get stuck for a while figuring out where to go next.
