Play Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure Online

I picked up Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure for the NES back in 1991. It was developed by Sculptured Software, and it fit right in with the platform's library of movie and TV tie-ins from that period. The game drops you into the shoes of the two airheaded heroes, and your job is to fix history after their phone booth time machine messes everything up.

You control either Bill or Ted, switching between them as you explore locations screen by screen. The main goal is to find and return a bunch of misplaced historical figures to their proper time periods. You do this by navigating through different time zones, collecting items like keys and passes, and solving simple puzzles to open new paths. The game involves a lot of backtracking and talking to characters to figure out what to do next. It can feel repetitive, and the difficulty comes more from figuring out where to go than from any complex action. Playing it is a slow, methodical process of trial and error.
