Man, Best of the Best on Game Boy takes me back. The second you boot it up, you're hit with that crunchy 8-bit soundtrack and those chunky pixel fighters—no fancy intros, just straight into picking your martial artist and throwing down. I always went for the karate guy first, but the judo throws are stupidly satisfying once you figure out the timing.
It's one of those games where the controls feel stiff at first (this is the Game Boy, after all), but after a few rounds, you start nailing those three-hit combos like it's second nature. The AI cheats sometimes—no shame in admitting I lost to the third opponent like five times before realizing you can bait them into whiffing a kick. Classic 90s jank, but in the best way.
If you've got a soft spot for handheld brawlers that don't overcomplicate things, this one's a knockout. Just don't blame me when you start muttering "one more match" at 2 AM.
