About Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice on the NES came out in 1991, developed by Rare and published by LJN. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games that were everywhere on the system, and it tried to capture the film's weird energy in a side-scrolling adventure.
You control Beetlejuice through a series of levels, starting in the model town and moving into the Neitherworld. Your main goal is to rescue Lydia from a forced marriage. You jump across platforms, avoid enemies like sandworms and shrunken heads, and use a limited supply of bugs to stun opponents. The game is structured screen by screen, and you collect items like a key to unlock the final boss area. It moves at a brisk pace, but the controls can feel slippery and the difficulty spikes are noticeable. Playing it feels like a chaotic scramble through a world that is both familiar and frustrating.
