Beetle Adventure Racing! is one of those N64 racers that somehow flew under the radar but absolutely shouldn’t have. You’re driving these chunky little VW Beetles through wild tracks—like a haunted forest or a volcano—and the handling feels surprisingly good for an N64 racer. Not too floaty, not too stiff.
What really makes it special are the shortcuts. Some are obvious, but others are tucked away behind breakable walls or hidden in caves, and finding them feels like cracking a secret code. The power-ups are weirdly satisfying too—nothing crazy, just stuff like turbo boosts and oil slicks that actually feel useful when you’re neck-and-neck on the last lap.
It’s got that late-’90s arcade vibe where the tracks are more about fun than realism, and the Beetles have just enough personality to make picking one feel like a real choice. If you missed this back in the day, it’s still a blast to play now.
