Remember when crossovers were rare and actually exciting? Battletoads & Double Dragon was one of those weird, "wait, this actually exists?" team-ups that somehow worked. You pick either the Double Dragon bros or the Battletoads (I always went with Rash—his goofy grin just fits the chaos) and punch your way through waves of enemies. The first level throws you right into it: smashing through neon-lit streets, dodging pipes, and occasionally getting sucker-punched by some punk in a leather jacket.

It’s got that classic NES beat-em-up feel—clunky but satisfying, with just enough weirdness (like the Toads’ stretchy limbs) to keep things unpredictable. The co-op’s where it shines, though. Grab a friend, pick different characters, and watch as you both accidentally elbow each other more than the actual bad guys. Classic.

It’s not the deepest fighter, but it’s got personality for days. Just don’t expect the Battletoads difficulty—this one’s way more forgiving.
