The premise was simple: the Battletoads and the Double Dragons had to join forces, which was a fun concept for anyone who knew the characters from their own games.

You control one of the five heroes, like Rash or Billy Lee, and your goal is to fight through waves of enemies across different levels to stop the Dark Queen. The gameplay is side-scrolling; you move from left to right, punching and kicking your way through each screen. A couple of mechanics stand out: you can pick up weapons like pipes or bats dropped by enemies, and the Battletoads have their signature morphing attacks that turn their fists into giant hammers for a more powerful hit. The game moves at a quick pace, and the difficulty can spike, especially with the enemy placements in the later stages. It feels satisfying to land a big combo and clear a path forward.
