About Battleship
Battleship for the Game Boy came out in 1991 from Mindscape. It was one of those portable versions of a board game you'd see a lot back then, a straightforward adaptation you could play on the go. The screen was small and green, just like every other Game Boy title, and it fit right in with the simple, pick-up-and-play library of the early handheld.
You control the placement of your fleet, a collection of ships you hide on a grid. Your main goal is to find and sink your opponent's ships before they find yours. The core mechanics are calling out coordinates, marking hits and misses, and tracking your progress on your own grid. The game moves at a deliberate pace, turn by turn, and the difficulty comes from trying to outguess the computer's logic. It feels like a quiet, solitary test of deduction and luck.
