Play Battle Toads & Double Dragon Online

Battletoads & Double Dragon came out for the NES in 1993, developed by Rare and published by Tradewest. It was a crossover that felt like a big deal at the time, bringing together two different beat 'em up franchises on a console that was already home to plenty of them.

You pick one of the five characters, either a Battletoad or one of the Lee brothers, and fight through side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to get to the Dark Queen's ship and stop her alliance with the Shadow Warriors. You punch and kick your way through waves of enemies, and each character has a special move, like the Toads' giant fist attacks. The game mixes standard brawling with vehicle stages, including a speeder bike section that demands quick reflexes. The difficulty ramps up quickly, especially in the later levels where enemy patterns become relentless. It feels chaotic and demanding, but landing a powerful combo on a boss is deeply satisfying.
