About Battle Dodge Ball (japan)
Battle Dodge Ball came out for the Game Boy in 1991, developed by Banpresto. It was part of that wave of early portable games where developers tried to fit big ideas onto a small screen. You would see it alongside other sports titles, but it had its own particular take on a schoolyard classic.
You control a team of characters on a single screen, trying to eliminate the opposing team by hitting them with the ball. The main objective is to be the last team standing. Signature mechanics include catching a thrown ball to protect yourself and add a new ball to the field, and charging your throws for more powerful, screen-crossing attacks. The game moves quickly, and the computer opponents can be surprisingly aggressive, making you time your throws and movements carefully.
