About Battle Crusher (japan)
Battle Crusher came out for the Game Boy in 1990, developed by A-Wave and published by Asmik. It was part of that early wave of portable games where developers were still figuring out how to translate complex genres onto the small screen. You see a lot of experiments from that period, and this one tried to bring a specific kind of action to the handheld.
You control a character in a side-view arena, moving left and right to fight a series of opponents. The main goal is to defeat all the enemy fighters across several stages to become the champion. Your character can punch, kick, and perform a special spinning attack; you also have a life bar and a power gauge that builds up as you land hits. The pacing is quick, with matches that are often short and direct, though the difficulty can spike sharply against certain foes. It feels like a straightforward test of your timing and how well you can pressure the other fighter.
