BattleTanx - Global Assault is one of those N64 gems that never got enough love. You're thrown into a wrecked future where tanks are basically the new currency, and your job is to blast everything in sight. The single-player campaign has you rescuing survivors (or just flattening buildings—your call), but the real magic happens in multiplayer. Four players, tiny tanks, and absolute chaos—it’s like Mario Kart with way more explosions.
The tanks handle like you’d expect—heavy, a little sluggish, but satisfying when you land a direct hit. Some of them have ridiculous secondary weapons, like homing missiles or airstrikes, which means no match ever plays out the same way. The levels are packed with destructible stuff, too. Half the fun is just seeing how much of the map you can turn into rubble before someone snipes you from across the screen.
It’s not the deepest strategy game, but there’s something weirdly addictive about lining up the perfect shot while dodging incoming fire. If you’ve got friends and a few spare controllers, this one’s a blast.
