BattleTanx: Global Assault is basically what happens if you took a bunch of tanks, threw them into post-apocalyptic cities, and said "go nuts." The single-player campaign has this weirdly gripping story about a plague wiping out most of humanity—but honestly, you're here to blow stuff up. The controls feel surprisingly tight for an N64 tank game, and the levels range from tight urban streets to wide-open deserts where you can just unload missiles at anything that moves.
Multiplayer is where it really shines, though. Grab three friends, pick your tanks (the nuke launcher is stupidly fun but takes forever to reload), and prepare for absolute chaos. The power-ups are balanced just right—you won’t steamroll everyone just because you grabbed the railgun, but it definitely helps. My only gripe? The frame rate chugs a bit when too much explodes at once, but that’s the N64 for you.
If you miss the days of couch multiplayer where trash-talking was mandatory, this one’s a blast.
