Man, Batman: Return of the Joker on Game Boy takes me back. You start off swinging between Gotham rooftops—those tiny 8-bit gargoyles somehow feel epic when you're grappling across them. The Joker's laugh still creeps me out even in chiptune.
First level throws you right into it: dodging goons with weirdly accurate throwing knives while the music nails that dark-but-upbeat Batman vibe. The controls are simple (jump, punch, batarang) but you quickly realize timing matters—mess up a jump and you're eating pavement.
What surprised me? The boss fights. Joker’s not just sitting around; he’s tossing bombs, disappearing in smoke, the whole circus act. And yeah, the graphics are basic now, but back then? That tiny Bat-sprite felt like holding a whole comic book in your hands. Still one of the better Batman games that actually got the feel right.
