Batman Forever on Game Boy is one of those licensed games that actually nails the vibe of the movie—dark, a little cheesy, and packed with punchy combat. You start off swinging between Gotham’s rooftops, dropping down to brawl with thugs using Batman’s slick combos and gadgets. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you figure out the timing for counters, you feel like a total badass.
It’s got that classic side-scrolling beat ‘em up energy, but with some weirdly fun platforming sections where you’re dodging traps or climbing up neon-lit buildings. The pixel art holds up, too—Batman’s cape animation is weirdly satisfying. And yeah, the boss fights are exactly as over-the-top as you’d hope, with Two-Face’s coin gimmick being a standout.
Not gonna lie, some of the later levels get brutal with enemy spam, but that’s part of the charm. If you’ve got nostalgia for ‘90s Batman or just love janky retro brawlers, this one’s a solid time.
