Batman - Return of the Joker on Game Boy is basically the follow-up to the NES Batman game, but with the Joker pulling his usual chaos. You start off swinging through Gotham’s rooftops, punching thugs and dodging projectiles—classic side-scrolling beat 'em up stuff. The controls feel a little stiff compared to the NES version, but once you get used to it, the action’s still satisfying.
What’s cool is the variety in levels—one minute you’re brawling in the streets, the next you’re on a moving train dodging hazards. The Joker’s goons throw everything at you, and some of the boss fights actually make you think before mashing buttons. Not gonna lie, the Game Boy’s monochrome visuals don’t do the game any favors, but the sprite work’s decent for what it is.
If you’re into retro Batman games, this one’s a solid (if slightly clunky) way to kill an afternoon.
