Bass Rush is one of those weirdly specific N64 fishing games that somehow nails the vibe of sitting in a boat for hours, except without the sunburn. You start off picking your gear—the PowerWorm lure is basically cheating, by the way—and then it’s just you, some suspiciously calm water, and the occasional bass that fights like it’s got a personal grudge.
The tournaments get tense fast, especially when the fish stop biting and you’re just sitting there questioning your life choices. Graphics are about what you’d expect from an N64 fishing sim (so, not great), but there’s something weirdly satisfying about finally reeling in that one stubborn fish after ten minutes of wrestling with the controls. If you’ve ever wanted to experience the thrill of competitive bass fishing without leaving your couch, this is… oddly close.
