Bases Loaded GB is one of those classic Game Boy baseball games that feels a little rough around the edges now, but still has that old-school charm. You get simple pitching and batting mechanics—no fancy controls, just timing your swings and hoping the AI doesn’t crush your fastball into the stands. The fielding’s a bit clunky, but hey, it was the Game Boy.
What’s fun is how stripped-down it is. No deep stats, no franchise mode, just quick games where you pick a team (I always went with the sluggers) and try to outscore the other guys. The pixelated players are tiny, but you can still tell a home run from a pop fly if you squint. It’s not the best baseball game out there, but if you’re into retro sports titles, it’s a neat little time capsule.
Also, good luck hitting anything on the original Game Boy’s dim screen—emulators definitely help.
