Ah, Baseball on NES—one of those classic, no-frills sports games from Nintendo’s early days. You pick one of six teams (basically just different jersey colors, no stats or anything), and then it’s straight to the diamond. The controls are dead simple: swing, pitch, and run. No fancy power-ups, no deep strategy—just you, a friend, and some seriously pixelated baseball action.
It’s charmingly basic, but that’s part of the appeal. The fielding is a little janky (good luck catching pop flies), and the AI isn’t exactly a world-class opponent, but for 1983, it got the job done. Two-player mode is where it shines—nothing like trash-talking your buddy after a home run. Just don’t expect MLB The Show.
If you’re into retro gaming, it’s a neat little time capsule of how far sports games have come. The crack of the bat still sounds weirdly satisfying, though.
