Bart no Survival Camp is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s actually a pretty solid survival sim with a Simpsons skin slapped on it. You play as Bart trying to, well, survive in the wilderness after some mishap (the story’s in Japanese, so I’m guessing here).
At first, it feels like a stripped-down version of those old-school survival games—gather sticks, start a fire, fend off animals. But there’s something oddly charming about seeing Bart shivering in pixelated rain or getting chased by what I assume is a very angry raccoon. The controls are simple, though figuring out some mechanics took trial and error (and maybe a fan translation guide).
If you’re into obscure retro stuff or just love weird Simpsons spin-offs, this one’s worth a look. Just don’t expect deep survival mechanics—it’s more about the novelty of watching Bart struggle to not die in the woods.
