Banjo-Tooie is one of those sequels that actually improves on the original—bigger worlds, weirder characters, and way more stuff to do. You start off in Spiral Mountain, but before long, you're warping to these massive, interconnected levels packed with secrets. The puzzles are trickier than in Kazooie, and some of the moves (like splitting Banjo and Kazooie apart) take a minute to get used to, but it’s worth it.
What really sticks with me is the humor—Gruntilda’s back with her awful rhymes, and there’s this whole cast of oddballs like the inept witch sisters or the talking toilet (yeah, really). The music’s still catchy as hell, too. If you liked the first game, this one’s a no-brainer, but even if you’re new, it holds up surprisingly well for an N64 platformer. Just be ready for some janky camera moments—it *is* from 2000, after all.
