Banana Prince is one of those weird, charming NES platformers that never made it outside Japan—except for this German version with slightly tweaked sprites. You play as this little guy in a banana hat (obviously) jumping through bright, colorful levels full of enemies that look like they escaped from a toy box. The controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to the rhythm, bouncing on mushrooms and dodging flying fruit becomes oddly satisfying.
What’s cool is how the game mixes things up—some stages scroll automatically, others let you explore, and there’s even a weird slot machine bonus round. The music’s got that classic early ‘90s chiptune energy, too. It’s not the hardest platformer out there, but there’s enough quirky personality to make it stand out from the usual Mario clones. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into retro oddities.
