Banana (Japan) is one of those weird, charming NES puzzle games that slipped under the radar. You control these little moles—they’re oddly cute, like tiny diggers with big eyes—and the goal is to clear blocks by matching colors. Sounds simple, but the moles move in unpredictable ways, and the levels get surprisingly tricky after the first few.

At first I thought it was just another Tetris clone, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the way the moles shuffle around, knocking blocks into place. The music’s got that classic NES bouncy vibe, too. Not a masterpiece, but if you dig obscure puzzle games, it’s a neat little time-waster.
