Bakushou!! Jinsei Gekijou 2 is one of those weird, Japan-only NES games that never made it overseas—which is a shame because it’s basically a chaotic, fast-paced board game mixed with minigames. You pick a character (I went with the salaryman first, classic mistake) and race around a board, landing on spaces that trigger ridiculous challenges like balancing plates or dodging falling objects.
The humor’s super Japanese, so half the jokes might fly over your head unless you’re deep into the culture, but the sheer randomness keeps it fun. The pixel art’s surprisingly expressive too—your character’s face when they fail a minigame is pure gold. It’s the kind of game you play with friends when you want something silly and unpredictable.
Definitely a niche pick, but if you’re into retro oddities, this one’s worth a look.
