About Bad Dudes
Bad Dudes came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, published by Data East. It was one of many side scrolling beat 'em ups on the system, a straightforward action game from that era.
You control one of two martial artists, Blade or Striker, on a mission to rescue President Ronnie from the Dragon Ninja clan. You move from left to right, fighting through waves of enemies using punches, kicks, and jump kicks. The levels are broken into distinct screens; you must clear all the ninjas and thugs on one screen before you can advance to the next. You can pick up weapons like nunchaku and throwing knives, and you'll find food items to restore health. The game moves at a quick pace, and the difficulty comes from the sheer number of enemies that swarm you. Finishing a level feels satisfying, as your character strikes a pose and declares, "I'm bad!".
