B.C. Kid 2 is one of those weird, charming Game Boy platformers that feels like it got lost in time—fitting, since you’re playing as a caveman dodging dinosaurs and chucking rocks at enemies. The first level throws you right into it: jumping over pits, climbing vines, and figuring out which weird creatures are friends or foes (that stegosaurus just wants to help, I swear).
The controls are simple—run, jump, attack—but some of those platforming sections get sneaky. You’ll miss a jump, curse, and then realize there was a hidden ledge the whole time. And the music? Pure 8-bit nostalgia, with these bouncy little tunes that stick in your head way longer than they should.
It’s not the hardest game out there, but there’s something satisfying about the way it mixes straightforward action with just enough weirdness (why is there a level with floating sushi plates?). If you’ve got a soft spot for retro platformers, this one’s a fun little trip back to the Game Boy days.
