B-Wings is one of those NES shooters that feels a little rough around the edges but has its own weird charm. You're piloting this bulky transforming fighter—hold down the button and it shifts from a slow, tank-like mode to a speedy jet, which actually makes dodging bullets way more tactical than it sounds.

The levels scroll vertically, and the enemies come at you in these weird, almost geometric patterns. Some of the later stages get brutal with the bullet spam, but figuring out when to switch forms to weave through the chaos is oddly satisfying. The music’s got that classic 8-bit energy too—simple but catchy in that way only NES soundtracks manage.

It’s not the prettiest or smoothest shooter on the system, but there’s something about the clunky transformation gimmick that makes it stick in your head.
