About Attack Animal Gakuen (japan)
Attack Animal Gakuen was a Japan only release for the Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Pony Canyon in 1987. It appeared during a period when developers were experimenting with new perspectives and control schemes on the 8-bit hardware, moving beyond simple side scrolling.
You control a student who must rescue a kidnapped girl from a school overrun by animal themed enemies. The core gameplay is a run and gun shooter viewed from a third person perspective, where you move into the screen. Your character automatically runs forward while you aim and shoot in eight directions. The main challenge involves dodging obstacles and enemy fire while clearing each area. The difficulty comes from managing the constant forward momentum and the projectiles coming from all directions. Playing it feels like a constant, frantic scramble to stay alive.
