Athena on NES is one of those weird, janky action-platformers from the '80s that somehow sticks with you. You play as this goddess who starts off in her underwear (yeah, really) and has to fight through these surreal levels full of floating heads, weird monsters, and random power-ups. The controls are a little stiff, and the hit detection can be brutal, but there's something oddly charming about it—like stumbling through some bizarre dream where Greek mythology got mixed with early arcade chaos.

You'll pick up swords, shields, and even a fireball attack if you're lucky, but half the fun is just seeing what bizarre enemy or stage comes next. It's not the smoothest game out there, but if you're into retro oddities, Athena's got personality for days.
