Okay, so Asterix on Game Boy is basically like playing through one of those classic comic panels—except now you’re the one smacking Romans around. You start off in the Gaulish village, and right away, Obelix is just there being his usual tank-of-a-man self while Asterix does the quick, strategic hits. The sprites are tiny but full of personality, and the music? Weirdly catchy for a Game Boy soundtrack.
First level throws you straight into the action—dodging Roman soldiers, chucking menhirs (because of course Obelix carries those), and collecting those little golden laurel wreaths. The controls take a second to get used to—Asterix feels a bit slippery at first, but once you figure out the rhythm, it’s satisfying to weave through enemies. And yeah, there’s a magic potion power-up, because what’s an Asterix game without it?
It’s not super deep, but it’s got that old-school charm where the fun is in the little details, like the way Romans go flying when you hit them just right. If you grew up with the comics, you’ll grin at the references. If not, it’s still a solid, silly beat-’em-up with a lot of heart. Just don’t expect Obelix to share any boar.
