Armorines on N64 is one of those late-90s shooters that somehow makes fighting giant alien bugs feel both ridiculous and kinda awesome. You’re strapped into this powered armor suit blasting through swarms of insectoid aliens—think Starship Troopers meets Quake, but with that classic N64 jank. The first mission throws you right into it: your HUD’s blinking, your rifle’s overheating, and suddenly you’re backpedaling because three of those armored mantis things just dropped from the ceiling.
Co-op’s where it really shines, though. My brother and I spent way too many weekends crammed on the couch, screaming at each other to watch our flanks while the screen split into a chaotic mess of muzzle flashes and chitinous limbs. The weapons feel satisfyingly chunky—the plasma cannon’s my go-to, even if the reload animation takes forever. Graphics were decent for the time, though nowadays the fog effects make some levels look like you’re fighting in a bowl of pea soup.
It’s not Half-Life, but if you’re into that era of janky, ambitious shooters, this one’s got charm. Just don’t expect the AI to be smart—those bugs mostly just rush you in waves. Still, there’s something weirdly fun about holding the line against a horde of screeching alien bugs with a friend and a grenade launcher.
