Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was part of that wave of sci-fi shooters on the console, a time when developers were really pushing what the hardware could do with 3D environments and alien invasions. You did not see many games like this on the N64, which made it stand out a bit, even if it was not the most polished title on the system.

You control one of two soldiers in powered exoskeleton suits, fighting through levels infested with an insectoid alien race called the S.W.A.R.M. Your main goal is to wipe out the alien threat across various locations, from jungle bases to their hive ships. The game's signature mechanics include switching between multiple weapon types on the fly, like a flamethrower or a plasma rifle, and using your suit's jump jets for limited flight to reach higher platforms. The pacing is generally fast, with waves of enemies rushing you, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. Playing it feels like a straightforward, chaotic blaster where your main job is to keep moving and shooting until the screen is clear.
