Argus is one of those NES shooters that flies under the radar, but it’s got this weird charm. You’re piloting a little ship through these maze-like levels, blasting enemies and dodging bullets—nothing groundbreaking, but the controls are tight, and the music’s got that classic 8-bit energy. The first stage throws you right into it with these floating orbs that split into smaller enemies when you shoot them, which is oddly satisfying.
It’s not as flashy as some of the big-name shooters, but there’s something about the way the screen scrolls and the way enemies swarm that keeps you on your toes. I remember getting stuck on the third level for ages because the boss has this annoying pattern, but once you figure it out, it clicks. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into retro shooters.
