Argos no Senshi is one of those weird, obscure NES games that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame because it's actually pretty fun once you figure out what's going on. You play as this armored warrior (the "Argos" part, I guess) hacking through side-scrolling levels with a sword, dodging traps, and fighting off monsters that look like they escaped from a Greek mythology sketchbook.

The controls take a second to get used to—your jump feels a little floaty at first, and some enemies hit harder than you'd expect. But once you get the rhythm down, slashing through skeletons and dodging fireballs has this satisfying old-school challenge to it. The music’s got that classic NES vibe too, all bouncy and dramatic in that 8-bit way.

It’s not perfect—some of the platforming can be janky, and good luck figuring out the story unless you read Japanese—but if you’re into retro action games with a bit of mystery, it’s a neat little hidden gem. Definitely worth a play if you dig stuff like Rygar or Castlevania.
