Aretha II is one of those obscure Game Boy RPGs that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it's got this weirdly cozy vibe. You start off in a medieval-ish town with that classic chiptune soundtrack, and right away you're picking between three characters—each with their own little backstory. I went with the knight first, but honestly, the mage ends up being way more fun once you get past the early grind.
The battles are turn-based but quick, and there's this neat little mechanic where your party members can combo attacks if you position them right. The translation patches floating around aren't perfect, but you can still follow along well enough. If you're into old-school JRPGs with a bit of jank, this one's worth digging up.
