Okay, so Aretha on Game Boy—this one’s a weird little RPG that somehow sticks with you. At first glance, it’s got that classic top-down pixel look, but the magic system is what hooked me. You recruit these party members with totally different spells, and half the fun is figuring out who actually works together without accidentally setting your own team on fire.
The story’s got that old-school charm—vague prophecies, a missing royal heir, the usual—but the writing’s surprisingly snappy for a Game Boy game. There’s this one wizard who just roasts everyone, and I’m pretty sure he’s the real protagonist. Battles are turn-based but quick, and the dungeons? Classic maze-like nonsense where you’ll absolutely get lost without scribbling a map on your hand.
It’s not perfect—some of the grinding drags—but if you’re into retro RPGs with personality, this one’s got it. Just don’t expect the translation to always make sense.
