Ever stumbled into a weird, obscure NES game that feels like a fever dream? Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Mejika - Genchou Hishi is one of those. It’s a Japan-only release, so unless you’re fluent in kanji, you’ll be button-mashing through menus hoping for the best.
From what I could piece together, it’s some kind of strategy RPG with animal clans—wolves and deer, I think? The sprites are tiny, the music’s got that classic NES chiptune charm, and the battles are… confusing at first. Took me a solid 20 minutes to realize I was supposed to be recruiting units, not just charging into fights blindly.
Definitely not for everyone, but if you’re into digging up forgotten 8-bit oddities, this one’s a trip. Just keep a translation guide handy.
