About Amagon
Amagon came out in 1988 for the NES, developed by Aicom. It was one of many side-scrolling action games from that period, a straightforward adventure without the complexity of some other titles on the system.
You control a marine named Amagon, stranded on an island after a crash. Your goal is to cross the island to reach a rescue ship. You move screen by screen, shooting enemies with a machine gun. The main mechanic is Amagon's ability to transform into a giant, powerful version of himself called Megagon. As Megagon, you lose the machine gun but can fire energy waves from your chest, which costs you health. The game is fast and quite difficult, with relentless enemy placements. Playing it feels like a constant, frantic scramble for survival.
