All-Star Baseball 2000 on N64 still holds up as one of the better baseball sims from that era. The player models are surprisingly detailed for the time—you can actually recognize some of the big names from their stance alone. The AI keeps you on your toes, especially when you're pitching; just spamming fastballs won’t cut it here.
What I like is how it balances arcade-y fun with realism. You can pull off diving catches or nail a runner at home, but you’ll also deal with wild pitches and errors if you rush throws. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you do, it feels smooth—especially batting, where timing matters more than button mashing.
It’s not perfect (the commentary gets repetitive fast), but if you’re into late ‘90s baseball vibes, this one’s a solid pick.
