About Alfred Chicken (europe)
Alfred Chicken came out for the Game Boy in 1993, developed by Twilight and published by Mindscape. It was part of that wave of platformers that tried to do something a little different on the handheld, moving away from the usual mascots.
You control Alfred, a chicken on a mission to rescue his friends from a mechanical menace. The game is built on screen by screen exploration, where you peck enemies and kick certain blocks to uncover items or create new paths. Your main goal is to collect giant eggs scattered across the levels, which often requires careful observation and some backtracking. The pacing is deliberate, and the levels can be tricky with their enemy placement and precise jumps. Playing it feels like a slow, thoughtful puzzle dressed in the clothes of a platformer.
