Alfred Chicken is one of those weird, charming NES platformers that feels like it fell out of a cartoon from 1993—because it basically did. You play as this bright red chicken (yes, just a chicken) hopping through surreal levels full of giant pencils, floating platforms, and enemies that look like they escaped from a kid’s doodle notebook.
The controls are simple—run, jump, peck—but some of the level designs get surprisingly tricky. There’s a weird satisfaction in bouncing on springs or dodging rolling apples twice your size. And the music? Pure early ‘90s cheese, in the best way possible.
It’s not the deepest game, but there’s something oddly endearing about playing as a chicken on a mission. If you like quirky retro platformers, this one’s worth a peck.
