About Akumajou Special - Boku Dracula-kun (japan)
Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun came out for the Game Boy in 1990 from Konami. It was a time when handheld games were often simpler, scaled down versions of console titles, but this one tried something different within the familiar Castlevania world.
You control Kid Dracula, a small, cheerful version of the count, on a quest to reclaim his castle. The game plays across side scrolling stages where you jump on platforms and shoot magic bubbles at enemies like bats and zombies. You collect power ups to change your shot, from a rapid fire spread to a bouncing ball, and you face a boss at the end of each level. The pacing is brisk, and the challenge feels fair for a Game Boy title, with some tricky jumps and enemy patterns to learn. It feels light and playful, a silly twist on the usual gothic adventure.
