This one's a weird little Game Boy spin on Castlevania—Japan got it as Akumajou Dracula, but you might know it better as Castlevania: The Adventure overseas. It's stripped down compared to the NES games (no sub-weapons, just your whip), but the chunky sprites and moody music still nail that gothic vibe.
First thing you'll notice? It's slow. Like, Belmont moves through molasses slow. And those candle placements? Brutal. But there's something oddly satisfying about timing those jumps just right between floating platforms while bats dive at you. The final stage music still gets stuck in my head sometimes.
Not the best in the series, but if you're into retro jank with charm, it's got its moments. Just don't expect Symphony of the Night.
